I’m working on a psychology discussion question and need a reference to help me learn.
I would like you to interview a psychology professional or student psychology major about their opinions about this weeks topic regarding the overdiagnosis and resulting quick-labeling patients. Ask them if they feel the profession, in general, tends to diagnose patients too early in the process and, if so, why that might be.
After reading the text material, the Rosenhan Study and interviewing a professional in the field, provide a brief one-paragraph summary of your interview (no names please) and then address the following questions that provide your insights on the topic developed form all the sources you used..
- Do we in the field of psychology overly diagnose patients? Explain and support your answer.
- If we didn’t diagnose, how would this impact the treatment of those who suffer from a psychological disorder? Support your answer with examples
read the second and third files, and answer the question:
If you were a colleague of John and/or Mary, what information would you need to know about these disorders?
As a colleague, are there any measures that you would or could take to support them in the workplace or reduce any fears or stigma on the part of others? Explain, give examples.
